Chuck Black – deceased (July 11, 2016), former Chief Executive Officer

Sadly Image360 lost a key member of our Leadership team in July 2016. Partnering with his wife Lynn, Chuck helped build Image360 to the successful company it is today.

Chuck passed away unexpectedly after an illness. A Celebration of Life Service was held in July and Chuck’s final resting place will be at Arlington National Cemetery. There is a waiting list for Arlington burials and the date will be shared once it is scheduled – the timing will most likely be in 2017.

The Image360 team is humbled and proud to announce that Chuck Black was recently named Citizen of the Year for 2016 by the City of Fort Lauderdale. The Awards Ceremony will be held October 5 at 11:30 am at City Hall.

Chuck’s legacy lives on. He was a well-respected community leader and his passing has left a void for many of us.

While Chuck’s achievements are many, his greatest legacy will be his successful effort to convince the US Navy to name a ship the USS FORT LAUDERDALE. The news was announced by the Secretary of the Navy in March 2016. Chuck retired from the US Navy after a 20-year career. Chuck was a passionate supporter of our military men and women and extremely active in the Navy League. He was a Past President of the Navy League – Fort Lauderdale Council, a National Navy League Board Member, a Regional Director and an Area President.

Prior to Chuck’s and Mayor Jack Seiler’s initial meeting with the Secretary of the Navy in 2011, Chuck did extensive research on the Navy’s rich history with Fort Lauderdale. Chuck’s Navy Career and dedicated involvement with the Navy League made him a credible and convincing presenter in the meeting with SECNAV. He spent 5 years following up with the Navy to pursue his dream on behalf of our great city and community.

The USS FORT LAUDERDALE will be an amphibious transportation dock vessel (LPD28), The 684-foot vessel will be used to transport marine forces — up to 700 at a time – and their landing craft. The ship’s commissioning will occur in about 6 years. Mayor Jack Seiler honored Chuck by naming him Honorary Chair of the USS FORT LAUDERDALE Commissioning Committee.

Chuck was truly a leader in the community:  He served as a Board Member of the Greater Fort Lauderdale Chamber of Commerce, Riverwalk Fort Lauderdale, Navy League of the U.S. and Navy League Fort Lauderdale Council. He chaired the Commissioning of USS JASON DUNHAM (DDG 109), USCG Cutter RICHARD ETHERIDGE (WPC 1102). Chuck was also a Co-Founder of AMERICA REMEMBERS OUR HEROES…A Tribute to the Fallen.

Chuck earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of Maryland and a Diploma in Acting from the National Conservatory of Dramatic Arts, Washington, DC. He performed at such venues as the Kennedy Center, Washington, DC and in New York City as well as locally in Fort Lauderdale.

Some have asked if they can pay tribute and honor Chuck for his dedication and years of service to the Fort Lauderdale community. There are two causes that were part of Chuck’s mission and dream over the last 5 years. Our suggestion for a donation in Chuck’s memory are:
