Storefront & Building Channel Letters

Increase your location’s visibility with logos and letters that stand out.

Visible from long distances, storefront and building channel letters and logos from Image360 Baltimore-White Marsh are a popular way to identify a retail store, restaurant, shopping mall, office or other building.

Raised letter signs can be seen by motorists and others much more easily than two-dimensional signs. The added element of depth along with width and height makes these logo signs stand out when compared to flat alternatives!

Most of these exterior letters for buildings are built of metal, while others are made of plastic or combination of both materials. Typically, they range from two to three inches deep to as many as five or six inches deep. Of course, as custom signage, you can specify almost any depth, size, shape and color in raised letter signs!

Lighting storefront and building channel letters

The natural shading and shapes of 3D channel letter signs from Image360 Baltimore-White Marsh catch the eye without illumination. That said, most prefer lighted sign letters for even greater visibility at dawn, dusk, nighttime and on overcast days. Of course, nothing communicates “We’re open for business” like an illuminated sign! Here are popular ways to light storefront and building channel letters:

  • Back lit channel letters: Sometimes termed “halo lit” letters or “reverse channel letters,” they are lighted from behind, usually with LEDs (light emitting diodes). Positioned slightly away from a wall, the lighting gives them a distinctive halo effect!
  • Edgelit channel letters: These have translucent sides from which light is emitted. Or, the light can be provided from an external source around the letters.
  • Front lit channel letters: These are often called “standard” channel letters or LED channel letters. These raised letter signs have an open or translucent face. Light — usually from LEDs or neon — shines through the face.
  • Front/back lit channel letters: These emit light from both the front and back of the letters. As a result, front/back lit channel letters often have a dynamic and dramatic appearance!

Mounting storefront and building channel letters

Whatever your choice in channel letter types from Image360 Baltimore-White Marsh, they are typically installed two ways:

  • Flush mounted channel letters: These channels letters are attached directly to the façade of the building.
  • Raceway mounted channel letters: Here, the channel letters are affixed to a rectangular structure called a “raceway.” The raceway is then mounted to the building. Raceway mounting has the advantage of drilling fewer holes in the building.
