In mid-2015, sporting goods retailer SCHEELS sought to open its 26th location throughout the upper Midwest and West with a new store in Overland Park, Kansas.
The two-story, 220,000-square foot facility—complete with a 16,000-gallon aquarium, 65-foot Ferris wheel and various sport simulators—would not only be the chain’s first foray into the Kansas City, Missouri, market, but also serve as its flagship store.
Given the importance of the grand opening, SCHEELS turned to a trusted nearby provider for graphics, signage and displays: Image360 – Kansas City Midtown.
The folks at Image360 – Kansas City Midtown had proven their capabilities to the retailer six months prior to the event, albeit on a much smaller scale; they created and mounted vehicle graphics for SCHEELS’ box vans. These were truck-side banner frames into which the retailer could readily insert and update promotional messages printed on vinyl banners.
That successful vehicle project cemented the relationship between the retailer and the graphics, signage and display company and paved the way for them to collaboratively brand an entire site—a massive one at that. Image360 – Kansas City Midtown employees rolled up their sleeves and dug into the new project.
To brand the new location, Image360 – Kansas City Midtown performed an assessment, recorded key measurements and worked closely with the retailer to determine its promotional and informational needs. These were substantial from the start and only increased as the grand opening date grew closer.
All in all, they sized, fabricated and installed: canvas gallery wraps, fabric graphics in stretch frames, murals, signs (on foam board and PVC), vinyl wall graphics and more for the new store by the time the ribbon was cut and the first shoppers streamed in.
Today, SCHEELS’ satisfaction with Image360 – Kansas City Midtown is stronger than ever. The local resource is regularly tapped by the retail chain to assist with fabric graphics, signage and more for its promotional updates.
